We're Going on a Field Trip!
I hope you'll come along...
Dear Notes on Hope Readers,
As I mentioned at the end of this weekend’s note, we’re going on a field trip!
I am grateful to Benjamin Riley, who writes the fantastic Cognitive Resonance newsletter, for inviting me to share a guest essay this week.
Riley writes thoughtfully and cogently about the role of AI in education and in our lives more broadly. He embraces complexity over purity, which I appreciate. He often manages to find glimmers of humor and poetry in unexpected places. And, most importantly, he never lets go of our shared humanity or our obligations to children. This moving essay remains one of my favorites.
More recently, he has broken a series of urgent stories about the deeply concerning circumstances at Alpha School. And it is in the context of these stories that we are both hoping to offer you a humane counter-vision of education this week.
I hope you will come along and meet me over at Cognitive Resonance. (And if you are a new Notes on Hope reader, having found your way here from Benjamin Riley’s newsletter, welcome!)
Let’s reclaim a vision of humane schooling, together.
With hope,
Alicia
